This was written by my 16 year old daughter and she mailed it to me to check if the spelling and stuff is “okay”. I did not request her to write it nor did I alter or change anything (but I am posting this with her permission). She just felt like writing her thoughts down – now that sounds like a future blogger! And as she wrote it in English (after a bit of debate with myself) I decided to also comment in English.
I do not know if I was able to write like this at her age, but what I do know is that I did not have the spiritual insight she has at this age. I was too busy struggling with my identity… At the time I was actually trying to be religious without realizing that religion in an attempt to get to know God is futile. Enough said, with pride I introduce to you the scribbles of a guest blogger, my daughter: Irisna Joubert!

A photo I used for the weekly photo challenge “Fun”‘ and a recent selfie by the author
Who am I?
Why am I on earth?
What is my life’s purpose?
Where do I fit in the picture?
I will never understand completely who I am, because I’m only human and I make mistakes and I don’t know everything. But, I do know, that with Christ, my identity is complete. Who I am, doesn’t make such a big difference when I know who God is. God helps me to find out who I am, but in life, it is so much more important to know the roots of our God, than to know exactly where I fit in the picture of this big world. Before you can understand yourself, you have to discover who God is.
We, as humans, will never completely understand God, for He is more phenomenal and complex and incredible and wonderful than our tiny brains will ever be able to imagine. So to find who you truly are and what your identity is, first find God and His kingdom and His ways. From there, God will help you to understand yourself. Because once you discover Christ’s love for you, your life will change expeditiously. You will then begin to understand your purpose and identity in Christ. For He is our Lord and Saviour
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. – Matthew 6:33
She meant the next part as an inspiration to her peer group but it actually compliments what she wrote above.
Never underestimate your worth. Girl, you are a princess, because the Son of our everlasting King died for you on a cross. He saved your life. There was a high price being paid for you to have everlasting life. And you will spend that life with someone who gave up theirs so that you can live forever. Is there any greater love than Christ who gave up everything to see you in heaven? With respect, isn’t that the perfect love story?
- As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. – John 15:9
- Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13

Earlier this year I posted an article by my other (younger) daughter Elrike which she wrote for her school newspaper Hebron red meer as net mense
To read how a gift by Elrike made me emotional go to Priceless flowers in a Glacier
Your daughter has great potential in writing and yes, she has beautiful thoughts. Sometimes i found myself in her post, sometimes I was wonder how deeply she went into her mind to make this story.

Wat ‘n mooi getuienis. My kinders is nou 10 & 12 en baie gelowig. Miskien te onskuldig. Die lewe daarbuite is minder verdraagsaam. Sterkte.

Baie dankie.

Ooooo ek geniet die tieners se werk so baie.

My dogter sal die positiewe terugvoer oor haar skryfwerk waardeer.

Jy is ‘n diep kind Irisna.
