a beautiful place to throw yourself off the edge

“This week, let’s keep our angles sharp and heart rate fast”, the man says…

In the first photo my daughter still looks brave despite knowing she is going to fall 68 meters straight down. In the second photo she is over the edge and any signs of braveness or self control is out of the door, uh correction, over the edge. Under normal circumstances it is comforting to know that there are no strings attached, but it is certainly not an option at the Big Swing in the town of Graskop, which is in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.

In the fourth photo the end destination is visible (barely) and gazing at the fifth photo, it certainly appears to be a pirate ship with its gangplanks extended. But this pirate ship is travelling right on the the edge of the world – if you walk off these you tumble into the abyss!

But don’t worry it is a breeze, see I am all smiles and confident (no you are not allowed to ask my daughter what happened when I walked the plank)! At the bottom I felt dizzy, only because of the beauty of the scenery naturally!

Mpumalanga is a beautiful area in the north-east of South Africa. The Kruger National Park is within its borders as well as what is known as the Panorama route, which includes exquisite views over the Blyderivier canyon and many waterfalls. Blyderivier means River of Joy. A group of farmers who moved to this area in the 1800’s was under the impression that their leader and his party had died. But they met again at the river and and the joy inspired the name.

Ek sal jou benoem as my inspirasie!

      1. O ja, toevallig het ek nou net amper so iets geskryf. Ek sterf sommer by die gedagte daaraan! 🙂

    1. Well Hugh there is not much difference between bridge jumping on this scale and bungee. Regardless of the elasticity of the rope the first 68 meters you fall straight down. Thanks for the visit

    1. When I went over the edge (after I jumped) I honestly didn”t know what I was doing. It was only when I felt the rope tagging on me that I realized I was doing the big swing. It was a surreal feeling!

      1. 😆

Ek raak sommer naar as ek daaraan dink.
