There is the line from a song which essentially is a complaint: I joined the navy to see the world but all I saw was sea. Well I climbed on a table and it opened my eyes to see a sea of sheen, shine and shimmer – I did not complain. Naturally it draw my attention to this week’s WordPress photo challenge which opens the lens to shine.
I took these photos not long after I bought my first Nikon DSLR camera in July 2011 and it was my first mountain hike with said camera. The table I am referring to is Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa and the first 2 photos where taken while descending the mountain on the Camps Bay side after a day of solitary hiking and experimentation with the camera.
The third and forth photos were taken three quarters of an our later having reached the contour route but still elevated above the sea. The flash reflecting from the burnt out out tree causes quite a shimmer on the black scorched surface while the golden shine enveloping the tree in the third photo, is visible in the v-shape.
All are very lovely, but favourite is the sun behind the silhouetted tree. Thank you for sharing your beautiful corner of the world 😃

Dankie Toortsie dle kamera het natuurlik ‘n ekstra dimensie by my stappery gevoeg. Maar met stap is daar gelukkig genoeg tyd om met tye nie fotos te neem nie en net die stap te geniet.

Beautiful sceneries. The sea is something which could inspire me always. It has so many of impressive sides, like reflection, structure, air, noise, joy.

Ja hierdie was ook besonders stap hierdie keer op my eie wat nie noodwendig aanbeveel word in die konteks van veiligheid nie maar dit gee jou ‘n kans om te dink (en onversteurd fotos te neem)

I love sunsets and the silhouettes sunset makes. I’ll do sunsets for my come-back “Ooh Shiny” post. I might just do a post with all the weeks I missed just because I had prepared the photos already and for some reason, I was too lazy. (I’m not even going to make excuses and find a fancy term for the phase I went through… or still going through… Darn it, I’ve gotta get out of this funk!)
Thank you for the inspiration! You should print your photographs on canvas and have an art exhibit of all your works.

Wow thanks for the inspiring words you are exhibiting Anne. And there is no reason for explanations or rationalizations for your “funk”
